The Phaedrus Kit
FAQs

The
Phaedrus Kit

The Online Resources Page
covers resources directly related to Plato
and The Phaedrus. The Context
page, which you are reading at this very fictional instant is a repository
of sources organized into specific categories aimed at helping the reader
situate Plato and the Phaedrus
historically, geographically, sociologically, culturally, etc.

The Online Resources Page
and the Contexts page should be consulted in tandem. This practice addresses
one’s „direct education“ concerning Plato, the text, and their own contexts.

For help in building a dialogical (or, if I’m feeling hubristic enough,
which I’m not at the moment, {such a disclaimer thereby allowing me to
proceed with the hubristic gesture all the more freely having disavowed
it} a dialectical) relationship
with the text through and within and from and across your own multiple
contexts, I have constructed the Relevance
Menu
and the Medical Relevance
Menu
(I can’t believe I actually expected to have this ready for xmas
!). These relevance pages thus can be used in tandem and meta-tandem with
the On Line Resources and this
Contexts page. And of course, when you get adept at this, all of these
can be negotiated across our Lexicon
and the various focalized supplements to the fifteen individual commentaries
of the Phaedrus itself. Hey, it keeps me off the streets.

From the Internet Classics Archive. Can you remember why
the Clouds is important to us? A hint. Go the the Who

Page and look at the right hand frame. (Actually this
is quite a bit more than a hint, but I’m feeling generous.)
Helen
Euripides. I just stopped feeling generous. Why don’t you
explore your memory or this site and figure out why this play figures into
our obsessions with the Phaedrus?
This one’s a little trickier
so be patient with yourself.
